Sustainability at school (Waregem in Tartu W46 2023)
Within our objective of raising awareness about ecological issues and the functioning of our campus, our students visited the school in Tartu to investigate how the school is tackling climate challenges and trying to raise awareness about ecological issues among their students. The students received information within a broader context ( national, regional, urban, school and classroom) and saw concrete applications at the school level: the operation of the school restaurant, the ecological impact of digitalization within the classroom and the school's waste policy. Our students made the comparison between the school policies in Sint-Paulus Campus College in Waregem and Hugo Treffner Institute in Tartu in terms of climate impact at different levels, individual, classroom, in the whole school and the school environment. The students made a presentation of their main findings, did a survey and formulated some recommendations for school policy in their own school.
Sustainability in fashion industry (Waregem W45 2023)
Week 45, 2023 was a week we hosted 4 delegations in Waregem. Martina Franca, Italy; La Spezia, Italy; Constanta, Romania and Budapest, Hungary.
For better awareness we inquired the environmental challenges in fashion industry. We used the 17 sustainable development goals defined by the UN. We have put all our findings in to a website.
As a local solution for more sustainability in fashion industry we organized a thrift shop with second hand clothes. Our pop up shop made a profit of 214.5€.
The proceeds go to projects for underprivileged children.
